"providing more available, accessible and affordable geotechnical data to the UK Oil and Gas Industry.."
Insight is the official media release mechanism of Common Data Access Limited (CDA). Subject to cost, information submitted to the PSTI and to a newsletter to be developed will be published on a quarterly basis with the objective of informing interested parties both within the UKCS industry and also internationally on the development of this initiative. If you have any advice as to how we can improve communication of this initiative, please contact Dave Roche. We hope that you will enjoy reading your copy of Insight.
Common Data Access Limited
CDA Limited is a new and innovative company formed to improve the management and distribution of Geotechnical (Geographical, Geological and Geophysical) data for the UK Oil and Gas Industry The fundamental objective of CDA is to improve the management of data. Data and expertise when combined result in decisions relating to the search for Oil and Gas. The rationale is that by providing more focused, better data, this will result in improved decisions together with increased efficiency and reduced costs to the industry. CDA is an official project within the Cost Reduction in the New Era (CRINE) initiative and will revolutionise the way that oil and gas industry data is managed by the sharing of data, expertise and systems.
In forming Common Data Access Limited, the participants have committed to creating a single depository for the storage and retrieval of all raw geotechnical data generated from the oil companies' seismic and drilling operations. This co-operative initiative will lead to lower costs, easier access and better quality data. A single depository of standard format digital data that can be accessed using high speed remote communications will greatly reduce the need for reproducing data, storing multiple copies and by maintaining the integrity of a single master copy, will ensure that data quality is maintained.
