A sub-committee has been formed within CIDAI to consider standards issues. This is chaired at the moment by Stewart Robinson of the DTI.
It is hoped to promulgate these standards through Bulletin Boards for discussion and then as reference documents.
Below is the introduction to the proposed standards manual.

General Introduction
CIDAI has been established to provide a radical solution to data management within the UK oil community. One factor in this radical solution will be the establishment of a growing, shared database that will be built according to the emerging POSC standards.
Accompanying this development will be adherence to specific CIDAI standards, or recommended practices, that will define the way that the CIDAI systems work.
It is the intention that CIDAI standards will follow POSC and will reflect UK legislative standards as defined by DTI.
It is hoped that once CIDAI standards have common acceptance that they may be considered by DTI, if appropriate, as possible Operations Notices.
How standards are developed
CIDAI have a Chairman of Standards sub-committee as an appointed post. This post will consider each individual standard by forming a sub-committee of approximately six individuals from CIDAI members to address the particular issue.
The sub-committee will take account of :
The sub-committee will produce a draft standard for submission to the CIDAI Management Board who will decide whether the standard is to be mandatory or a recommended practice.
Change control
Once a standard has been approved by the CIDAI Management Board it will issued to the members by way of the CIDAI Bulletin Board. Hard copy of the standards will be made available to companies who do not have access to the Bulletin Board.
Requests for changes to issued standards should be made through the CIDAI Management Board. These will be referred to the Chairman of Standards for action according to CIDAI variation procedures.
