Common Data Access Limited Inauguration Ceremony

This revolutionary initiative relating to the management of geotechnical data took a major step forward when 30 UK Oil and Gas companies signed an agreement which will allow the Common Industry Data Access Initiative to become a reality. The signing of the Participation and Shareholders Agreements, creating Common Data Access Limited, took place at the offices of Amerada Hess Limited on 29 March 1995.

The evening event commenced with drinks followed by a brief introduction provided by Sam Laidlaw - MD, Amerada Hess Limited. This was followed by an overview of the CDA Limited "Vision" provided by John Redfern of Amerada Hess, a lead person in the development of the initiative to date. Michael Pfeiffer - President and CEO of QC Data who have been awarded the prime contract, then presented an overview of the service to be provided.

The event was attended by the Energy Minister, Tim Eggar MP, who confirmed his support and that of the Department of Trade and Industry to this co-operative venture. Speaking at the event, Mr. Eggar said:

"...It will mean members have quick access to a huge amount of the latest high quality data from a single source without having to store and copy it themselves. This is another success for CRINE (Cost Reduction Initiative for the New Era) and will cut the costs of operating in the UKCS..."
Following the presentations and signing ceremony, the evening continued with a light buffet and drinks.
