DTI NEWS

The DTI are firm supporters of the initiative and have been active participants since the start. They intend to sign a partnership agreement with CDA Ltd that will define the role and responsibilities of DTI within the partnership.

This is likely to include some or all of the following :

The initiative is now a CRINE project and is a key element in the De-Regulation exercise being mounted between UKOOA and DTI.

The vision of CIDAI is to establish a central geoscience database of quality data in the UK following POSC standards comprising:

Well data
Digital well log data
Links to paper data
Digital offshore seismic data
Cultural/mapping data
Licensing data
Production data
Trades and entitlements
An open access, POSC compliant digital database containing this type of data is the ultimate goal of DTI release exercises and CIDAI is seen as one way of achieving this.

DTI have been chairing the CIDAI standards meetings and they are also proposing to host a meeting in the near future that will gather together the various National Repositories from around the world to see if it possible to establish lines of communication and determine whether there are areas for co-operation.
