THE P-MAC SYSTEM

DYNAMIC EVALUATION OF SCALING TENDENCY AND INHIBITOR PERFORMANCE

The P-MAC system is a custom designed , hand built piece of equipment for the evaluation of SCALING TENDENCY and INHIBITOR PERFORMANCE in industrial processes. The P-MAC system is an invaluable research and development tool for technologists responsible for the design, operation and efficiency of water handling systems in which thermal, pressure or chemical changes promote the deposition of scales.

The P-MAC system provides an accurate, reproducible and rapid method for selecting and quantifying the most effective means of controlling scale deposition under dynamic conditions. Routine results can be obtained within 20minutes.

APPLICATIONS
The P-MAC System is suitable for use with all oilfield scales such as Barium, Strontium and Calcium Sulphates and Calcium Carbonate and with other organic scales such as Oxalates.

MODELS AVAILABLE

All Units consist of a standard set of Equipment.

Electronic Module
The Electronic modules consist of the following components :

  1. Pressure Limit Control
  2. Electronic Damping
  3. Zero Offset
  4. Stirrer Control
  5. Digital Pressure Readout
  6. Variable range 0 - 2v dc.

Pump Module
The pump module consists of a twin pump unit with speeds of 50 and 100 RPM. This allows flowrates of between 0 and 2 litres per hour to be achieved.
The two pumps allows different ratios of two brines to be mixed. If chemical dosing is also required further pump modules are necessary.

Chart Recorder
The standard unit consists of a single channel flat bed recorder providing variable span, speed and the option of digital function writing on the start of runs.

Computer Interface
All units have the option of interfacing to a computer for data acquisition and instrument control.

Heating Module

Water Bath
The bath is an eight litre standard water bath with a precision temperature controller. The test coil, 1mm ID SS capillary mounted on a Stainless Steel former, is located in the heating bath.

Oven
The Coil Oven incorporates the test coil together with two preheat coils for heating both brines.
