Table 7 Reservoir description

RTD TOPICS/ OBJECTIVES Category
1. To improve quantitative characterisation of fractured reservoirs: TE + E - method for upscaling of data; - better methods for well and field performance prediction; - improved methods of inputting fault/fracture data to reservoir simulators; - improved methods of integrating analogue data into reservoir descriptions. (Asset focus: appraisal, field development and production involving fractured reservoirs) 2. To improve geostatistical methods for reservoir description and modelling: TE - application to fracture data; - application to sand body geometry data; - application to upscaling of diagenetic characteristics; - application to interpolation of data gained from horizontal wells; - improved means of data integration, modelling and visualisation. (Asset focus: appraisal, field development, improving recovery from existing fields) 3. To improve understanding/predictions of the effects of reservoir TE + CR depressurisation in HP/HT fields on, for example effective stress, sand production, fines mobilisation and permeability. (Asset focus: HP/HT field development) 4. To improve prediction of sealing faults, including prediction of any dynamic E behaviour during production which may influence transmissibility. (Asset focus: field development and improved recovery from existing fields, especially HP/HT fields) TE- technology enhancement. CR- cost reduction. E- enabling.
