RTD TOPICS/ OBJECTIVES Category
1. To improve prediction and rating of elastomer performance. TE 2. To enhance capability of metal-to-metal seal technology. TE (Performance of elastomeric materials is generally acceptable up to about 175- 200°C. Temperature limitations on use of metals unlikely to be an issue up to 350-400°C) 3. To investigate the benefits/feasibility of using ceramics and novel TE + E metal/composite materials for HP/HT service. 4. To develop more effective, environmentally benign corrosion inhibitors for TE + CR "sour" ( H2S) service. (In addition to the requirement for benign production chemicals, there is a wider interest in reducing the chemical inventory offshore. Design of multi- functional chemicals is also therefore an area of industry interest.) 5. To develop improved performance/improved stability water-based/polymer TE drilling fluids for HP/HT service. (Asset focus of the above topics: HP/HT field developments) TE- technology enhancement. CR- cost reduction. E- enabling.
