PTERIS Makes its Mark at OGIP 96
OGIP 1996, the Oil and Gas Information Conference,
was held in Stavanger on the 6-7 June. The conference, organised
by the Forum for Petroleum Information (FOP) in co-operation with
Heriot-Watt University and PSTI, aimed to reach as many professionals
as possible working with, or having a special interest in information.
PTERIS (the Petroleum Technology Research
Information System) was on display along with the IPRD (the International
Petroleum Research Directory) at PSTIís stand in the exhibition
hall. In addition a paper was presented by Simon Burnett, PSTIís
Information Scientist, on the role of PTERIS as a gateway to oil
and gas information on the Internet.
PTERIS, which has been on-line for around
18 months, is used increasingly by PSTI Member companies as a
source of regularly updated information from PSTI, in addition
to providing links to other related sources of E&P information.
In addition, the public access area of PTERIS has a large number
of regular visitors, using PTERIS both to gather and disseminate
information.
PTERIS is currently undergoing a major upgrade
to improve both presentation and navigation around the system.
These changes will be in place by the middle of July, as well
as constant upgrades and improvements to the system throughout
the year. PTERIS on the Internet can be found at: http://www.psti.co.uk
