EC JOULE AND THERMIE PROGRAMMES: CALL FOR PROPOSALS
The European Commission will issue a call for proposals under
both the JOULE and THERMIE
programmes on 15 September 1996. It is expected that nearly £200
million will be available to fund projects. The
Institute of European
Trade and Technology
is running six seminars later this year on behalf of the DTI to
provide fuller information and advice to help UK organisations
access these funds.
The JOULE programme will be seeking proposals for R&D projects
in a number of areas of the work programme relating to energy
RTD strategy, rational use of energy and fossil fuels, as well
as a few relating to renewable energies. It is expected that a
further (and final) call will be made in the first part of 1997
which will concentrate on renewable energies.
The THERMIE programme will invite proposals for demonstration
projects in rational use of energy in buildings, transport and
industry; renewable energies, including photovoltaics, wind, biomass,
small hydro and geothermal energy; clean production of electricity
from solid fuels (conventional and advanced cycles); and hydrocarbons
(exploration, production, transport of oil & gas and natural
gas technologies). The final call under the THERMIE programme
will be made in September 1997.
The seminars will take place in:
London 30 September
Bristol 7 October
Birmingham 8 October
Manchester 9 October
Newcastle-on-Tyne 14 October
Glasgow 15 October
