CIDAI standard 6 : Scanning

This standard initially applies to scanning black and white well logs. The standard will subsequently be updated as the requirements to scan other data are identified.

Purpose of scanning

• To provide an archive
• Cost reduction by reducing number of versions of hard copy
• To improve accessibility to the data

In summary :

Data will be scanned using Tiff with group IV compression, 400 dpi (dots per inch), 256 levels of grey.

A physical rule will be applied down the side of the log curves.
