SMF International was formed in 1958 to manufacture drilling equipment. The Aberdeen office was established in 1980.

SMFI relocated to the Aberdeen Offshore Technology Park in 1996. The Innovation Centre is an ideal setting for the North Sea regional office, where close liaison with the offshore industry ensures that manufacturing, research and development are keeping pace with the ever evolving technical requirements of north sea drilling.

In addition to API Specifications, SMFI manufactures to Shell SQAIR, NORSOK material requirements for the Norwegian Offshore Industry, and many other detailed customer specifications.

SMFI is one of the worldís largest manufacturers of Rotary Shoulder Drilling Equipment.
