Petroleum Exploration Computer Consultants (PECC) was founded in the mid-1980s with a vision to provide a service capable of meeting all the information technology (IT) and data management needs of the oil and gas industry.

The firm offers a comprehensive range of IT services with dedicated centres in key oil provinces worldwide including Aberdeen, Dallas, Houston, Cairo, Moscow and Rotterdam.

With its formidable technological background, PECC provides a 'one stop' hardware and software support service to oil companies backed up by professional personnel with an excellent background in the industry. This is enhanced by PECC's long standing policy of forging strategic relationships with major systems vendors without compromising the company's total commitment to independence.

A key step in PECC's development was its 1992 acquisition of Tape Technology, the seismic data transcription and management specialist. The move not only filled a gap in the company's data services portfolio, but also increased its access to international markets.

PECC continues to build on its original vision, putting the emphasis on meeting the specific IT requirements of its clients with a dedicated, high quality service. Support comes from the company's team of more than 120 employees comprising geoscientists, engineers and technicians all able to tap into PECC's unrivalled resource base.

Data Management

Transcription Services: When the tape copying, data recovery and library compaction services are combined with the company's extensive suite of software products, PECC is able to provide clients with a fully integrated data management and retrieval service.
Workstation Services: 2D and 3D dataloading and interpretation services are provided for Landmark, Geoquest and Charisma applications. Remote or on-site systems administration and user support is available from PECC's Workstations Services Group.
Software Design and Support: PECC supplies design and support services for a suite of seismic pre-processing, data management, corporate database and data warehouse applications which all focus on providing rapid access to critical exploration and production data.

Software support for all PECC applications is provided by telephone, modem or on-site depending on the clients' requirements. This service is enhanced by the availability of software enhancements, user training, installation and regular product news.

Facilities Management

UNIX Support: Systems management and administration services provided either on-site or remotely depending on the clients' requirements
Application Support: User support, installation, training, configuration and upgrades for geophysical and plotting applications
Network and Configuration Support: Analysis of network communication performance, configuration management and optimisation, performance tuning and change management
Systems Integration: PECC has access to all the major hardware and software providers and has highly skilled personnel to analyse client requirements and offer independent advice on optimum solutions
Hardware Support: PECC is able to provide on-site warranty and ongoing support for Ampex, Convex, Cray, Exabyte, IBM, HP, Intergraph, Metrum, SGI, Sun and Versatec equipment

Consultancy

Business/Disaster Recovery PECC provides Security Assessment focused on determining the implications of computer viruses, hackers, fraud, industrial espionage, fire, terrorist activity, system crashes and natural disasters.
