DTC's Horizontal Well is a shallow 1623ft True Vertical Depth hole, having a 500ft horizontal section of 8.1/2" open hole below the 9.5/8" casing shoe.

The casing programme for the hole consisted of a 30" conductor casing set at 89ft in 38.1/2" OH. A dummy string of 13.3/8" casing was landed in the Sub Sea Wellhead with the shoe at 83ft. The 9.5/8" casing was run and cemented in 12.1/4" OH, the shoe depth being 974.6 ft.

A Dril-Quip 18.3/4" x 10k Sub Sea Wellhead system was welded to the 30" conductor casing; the connector profile is 18.3/4" x 10k Cameron Iron Works - Model 70 Collet Connector.

The 8.1/2" OH was drilled into the Granite Schist Formation which has proved to be sufficiently stable to leave uncased. This enables the running of full gauge 8.1/2" drilling tools into the hole for testing, evaluation and demonstration purposes. Should it be required, a liner can be run into the open hole for specific operations and subsequently recovered.
